Despite the severe barriers of the population served by New Start, our work is having an impact and recidivism is being reduced. October 2015 – August 2017 has seen the following results:

  • 80 medium to high risk/high need individuals on probation or parole have been enrolled in the New Start program
  • 52 individuals have graduated
  • 49 of the 52 graduates have secured employment (94% placement rate)
  • 78% of program graduates have not been reconvicted or recommitted
  • At the cost of $36,232 per year to house an inmate in Delaware’s prisons, the graduates who are sustaining success are saving the State of Delaware over $1.5M per year and are now contributing, tax-paying citizens
